Producer Profile: Raul Perez
The Perez family vineyard, Castro Ventoza (Windy Castle) is situated in Valtuille de Abajo, a village in Bierzo, and was established in 1752. A jigsaw puzzle of terraces and small parcels, Bierzo is an ancient region located in the Castille y Leon, in the far North West of Spain.The region is renowned for its Mencia production. The Mencia varietal is a fragrant, juicy and delicate grape that is often referred to as “the Pinot Noir of Spain”. Raised in the winery, Raul Perez produced his first vintage from his parents vines in 1994 at the age of 22. Producer Profile: Amy Hopkinson-Styles
Amy Hopkinson-Styles is a winemaker based in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Alongside her husband, Ollie, Halcyon Days uses time-honoured methods to create living wines that are a dynamic expression of the terroir of Aotearoa New Zealand.Halcyon Days wine is made with organic grapes from a BioGro certified Mangatahi vineyard, that have been planted in loam over red gravel alluvial soils. Mangatahi is a sub-region of Hawke’s Bay on the southern terraces of the braided Ngaruroro river. The fruit is handpicked and naturally fermented – Halcyon wines and our wines are unfined, unfiltered, with no additions.
